Deontay Wilder
Watched the Wilder v Ortiz fight this morning which was a cracker the first time round. King Kong Ortiz is a beast and for a 40 year old was in tremendous condition, backed Wilder up for 6 rounds and probably won every one of them. Then just when Wilder looked in trouble in the seventh , bosh , measured him up for a straight right hand and game over , Ortiz counted out...Wilder now has a 97pc knockout record the best of any heavyweight in history the guy is a phenomenon love him or hate it you cannot argue with his power. He was getting dominated in that fight yet you could see that he was waiting for the opening and when it came Ortiz went the same way as everyone else has... apart from Fury and god knows how he got up in that final round.... I must admit I used to think Wilder was overrated and a rubbish boxer who’d built his KO record against bums but seeing the way that he’s finished off Breazale and now Ortiz in his last two fights nobody can argue with his unbelievable punch power. I like AJ but think he will want to avoid Deontay for as long as he can if he gets his belts back next month.

Re: Deontay Wilder
Fury showed what Wilder is.....a one trick pony! If he hadn't foolishly stuck his chin out in the 9th and 12th rounds he would have won comfortably as he boxed his ears off. In his post fight interview yesterday he stated twice that he had knocked Fury out...….the man is deluded. Fury will win the rematch providing he keeps his chin tucked in and the cut he sustained in his previous fight holds up.

Eddie Hearn offered Wilder $120m over three fights.$20 for Dominic Breazeale, and two $50m fights against Joshua. Wilder did'nt take it saying he was loyal to Shelly Finkel & Showtime, & wanted to know what Joshua would earn. What was Wilders purse Saturday night, about $3m. Joshua will earn about $84m against Ruiz 2.
Would like to see how Wilder reacts when someone with sustained punching power lands one on his jaw.

Wilder is shit, as soon as he gets in with a banger he'll be gone long before he can get a lucky swing.

Dubois will tear him a new one.

Re: Deontay Wilder
He's a proper banger for sure... not in Big George Foreman's ferocity in his prime ... but he's certainly a banger

Re: Deontay Wilder
That is Wilder's danger. At literally any point of a fight, no matter how much damage he is taking, he can bang anyone out. All the fighters know that. Ortiz knew that. He is technically one of the most average boxers at the top level but, hey, when you have power like that you don't need to be technically great.

Has anyone ever tested his chin?

Agree with SmithWH.

Joshua and Hearn will run from Wilder. Wilder would land on Joshua, and that could easily knock him out.

Re: Deontay Wilder
Vexed - absolute shit that ‘anyone from the 80s and 90s would kill him’

He’s undefeated with an incredible punch that can be launched on back foot or front. Ortiz was blown away in the 7th.

He’s easily be a huge danger for any of the big names back then - Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson.

Re: Deontay Wilder
He looks half decent in a terrible heavyweight era. Almost anyone from the 80s/90s of note would kill his bloke.
